You may recall my describing a fall I took 11/29 wherein, in favor of not
eating cement, I let go of a tripod and small satellite bag containing my K20
and DA 16~45.
I completed their repair order form and shipped both to their Chandler, AZ
(Phoenix suburb) repair facility on 11/30. Tracking info showed them having
been received the morning of 12/2.
I hadn't been contacted with a repair estimate, so this PM I called Pentax
Customer Service. Sympathetic gentleman said they had been having some problems
with said service contacting customers and suggested I call them direct. I
happily took down the 'pnone number and did so. Nice lady in Chandler
apologized stating that they have been receiving "some 300 repair units per
day" and offered to call me back right away with an estimate. (how many repair
units must Canon receive per day?) She did so with the info that the total
costs would be $416 USD and repairs would take 4 to 6 weeks. When I rather
sternly reminded her that their repair order form stated "15 to 20 days", she
said she would put a "rush" on it. (right)
I didn't make a very legible note of problems found, but I can make out that
the body needs a new focus motor and lens mounting ring($260). Lens needs new
mounting ring and focus adjustment($144). Return shipping; $12.
Not that you need this information, but I like to share my troubles. ;(
