Hi, Shel,

I know you've already had loads of replies to this one, and maybe you've
already decided, but here goes anyway.

Denon makes a very nice compact all-in-one system. I can't remember the
name or number, but it has a 3 CD carousel, and although the speakers say
"Denon" on them, they were designed by Mission in England and licensed to
Denon. The amp is pretty decent, and there's a tuner in it as well.
Other than the speakers, it's all one unit.

It doesn't sound really impressive at first, since the bass isn't very
"boomy" (a good thing), but it really is very accurate and detailed. In
the long run, you'll be very happy with it's sound, imho. It is real
"hi-fi", and should blow the socks of pretty much anything that
Panasonic, JVC, Sony, etc has in that class. The Bose wave-thingie is
supposed to sound great, but you don't have the advantage of separate
speakers - of course future upgrades may not interest you anyway.

On my advice, my ex-girlfriend bought the Denon one, which I helped her
set up, and I was very impressed with the sound. So was she.

OTOH, if you've already decided, ignore this.

regards,
frank
