Shel, There are some small "Executive" systems that are designed to go on a desk. Good names like JVC and Sony make them. I know that Best Buy sells them along with Good Guys and Circuit City. Otherwise, I think you are looking at a boombox of some sort. The executive ones look much more refined and are not designed to carry around. They are relatively small and produce pretty good sound.
