Hi Stan,
SATA or PATA (standard old parallel IDE) depending on the age I would
expect. I haven't opened one yet but I expect that it's glued
together, not the type of thing you'd generally consider attempting to
repair ;-)

Just a thought, but I have several of those MyBook drives, and several
DIY types where I bought the cases & installed my own hard drives.
Each of them came with their own AC -> DC power supply, but all of them
pretty much have the same 12VDC output.
If you have more than one external drive, you might try and see if the
power supply from one of the others might work.
