I have little need for most of the features above and beyond what
Photoshop CS2 offers, but I picked up CS4 when it became available at
a deal price (thanks again, Larry!). I had zero difficulties
installing it, and it has not had any problems in my use of it (Mac OS
X system). I'm not so crazy about some of the new UI compared to CS2,
but eh? I'll get used to it.

That said, Lightroom 2 does the vast majority of my image management
and image processing, and all of my raw conversion processing. I use
Photoshop CSx for graphics operations beyond image processing
(borders, compositing, etc).

I've never had the real problems with Adobe some have mentioned. I'm currently on CS3 and have CS2 on another computer I rarely use at this time. I will probably take the UpGrade to CS5 after it becomes available.

I expect to be back in school this summer, and figure to look for the "academic version" of Lightroom 2 at that time, hoping the transition from Bridge won't be that difficult.
