The thing about language is that usage determines meaning, not the
other way around. "Full-frame" is virtually universally used to mean
24 x 36 mm. Whenever I show Canon or Nikon users either my Pentax DSLR
or my Sony DSLR, the first question they invariably ask (being
generally unfamiliar with either) is "is it full-frame?" Tha answer I
give is "no" for the Pentax and "yes" for the Sony and everyone
understands. Communication is successfully achieved and language
works.
