After my last post here I received an email from a company representative, Helen Oster, who had been suggested to me in one of the early responses. After looking into the issue she reported that there *was* a "bug" in the way rebates were being written up -- perhaps they thought they could turn it over to a machine? -- and offered me a $50 store credit by way of apology.
