Legally, you don't need a written release to publish a photo in a gallery. That
being said I believe I only have one portrait in the gallery, and I have a
release for that.
The sticky wicket is that while it is unlikely anyone would object or
take any action, all our photos in the Pentax gallery are being used
to promote a product, when you boil it down.
I don't think that cloning out a single blob is excessive editing. That's just
part of the rendering process. It's no more excessive than a crop IMO. This is
the digital age, and digital tools are and should be used to enhance a
photograph. Ansel Adams used extensive and complex procedures in his darkroom
to achieve the look he wanted. A look that often didn't match the subject in
every way. You should be able to use the tools at your disposal. I would guess
that at least 30% of the photos in the Petnax Gallery have been digitally
modified in some minor way. I've seen evidence of bad cloning work in some
images.

I should read all the chatter my query precipitated before I answer this
but you've given me the um guts to send the photo in. I must
say I think I did a pretty good job of getting rid of the square blob.
