A not so obvious consequence of this is increased condensation and resultant
water in the tank in cold weather environments. Factor in the cost for dry
gas.

The one thing that comes to mind is the difference in hauling all that gas
around vs. the lighter car with a half empty tank. Only in an earthquake or
other national disaster would you be in trouble if you only kept 4 or 5
gallons in the tank and put another 3 gals in every other day. Or whatever
amount works out with your consumption and daily miles driven.
This goes along with what "the experts" say, to keep all un-needed items out
of your car rather than hauling them around year after year (I'm guilty).
And to up your tire pressure to recommended, or 2 pounds over recommended,
to reduced the rolling resistance of the car.
