A 3-second Google for Skyline Drive tells me that it is 105 miles
long. Shouldn't be too tough to find strip maps with key
intersections etc mileposted for both the Skyline and Blue Ridge ...

Yeah. That's what I'm having to do.

Google lets you select point A & point B and will tell you how many miles it is and how long it will take to drive it. You can drag the points around and it will show you how much longer or shorter that makes the drive time. To a limited extent, I can force it to use certain routes.

What I'm trying to do is plan the trip so I leave home, drive up to Front Royal & down Skyline Drive to one of the camping areas on the first day.

From there I want to proceed south along Skyline drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway all the way down to the southern end, camping along the way.

I want to select distances that only have me "driving" for 5-6 hours. That will leave plenty of time for stopping and dawdling along the way. But I also want to select distances that will put me in the vicinity of another NPS campground along the Parkway when I'm done driving for the day.

And I'm trying to figure out how many days total to allow for the drive doing it in 5-6 hour increments. I want to use the drive time feature in Google to do all that for me instead of having to calculate it myself.

Google does fine for the leg up to Front Royal. I can force it to take the route I want to take, and even get it to follow Skyline drive to the first campground.

And it does OK for the route from Cherokee back to Raleigh.

But it just won't map Skyline Dr & the Parkway for the middle segment.

Google maps allows you to make routes and get driving directions

BUT ...

If you're trying to find the distance between two points on the
Blue Ridge Parkway, fageddaboutit!

I'm trying to plot out a fall color trip. I want to drive up to
the north entrance to Shenandoah National Park's Skyline Drive
and make my way all the way down to the southern terminus of the
Blue Ridge Parkway down at Great Smokey Mountains National Park
in Cherokee, NC.

The most direct route is straight down Skyline Drive to the Blue
Ridge Parkway, but Google won't have it. Does OK for the trip up
to Front Royal, VA and for the trip back home from Cherokee, NC.

But it just won't give me a map that goes along the parkways.
