I'm new to this list and fairly new to digital photography. I have

I have had a Pentax K1000 for donkey's years, which I have not used much
in a long time. I just purchased a used K-7 body. One of the reasons I
stuck with Pentax was because I had three lenses: (Focal MC 1:2 28mm,
Pentax-M 1:2 50mm, a 50mm and a Vivitar MC 70-210. 1:4.5 Macro Focusing
zoom)

My thinking was that it would be economical to be able to continue to
use them. The two fixed lenses mount fine. The zoom, however, will not
as it has a metal rim that is in the way. Can anyone provide any
information on how to mate the Vivitar up with the K-7, or should I just
bite the bullet and buy another lens?

Also how much of a problem is it to use the "M" and "MC" lenses?

Thanks for any assistance you can offer.

Paige

I currently use a Pentax-M 28mm 2.8, Pentax-M 55mm 1.8 on my K5 and K10d without any problems. They are of course manual a focus, but the focus confirmation from the AF system will still tell me when it thinks the focus is correct.

Being M lenses they need to be used in manual mode. Using the little green button makes the camera stop down the lens and choose an appropriate shutter speed. A sort of semi automatic Aperture priority mode.

My Vvitar 70-210 is screw mount so I don't have the same issues with mounting it.
