Welcome to the list!!

First rule, don't believe anything that Mark Roberts or Cotty says.
Second rule, enjoy yourself!  You'll find a wealth of photographic and
Pentaxian knowledge here.

As for your non-fitting lens I wonder if you're referring to the metal
flange at the very back of the lens?  Sometimes these need to be filed
down to fit newer cameras.  If that's the case, you can do it
yourself, but be very careful not to let filings get into the lens.
