Hello Folks, I have been using high quality 3rd Party Batteries from Amazon com and Sandisk Extreme cards with my K-5 and have not had any of the problems reported here. In fact the 3rd Party Batteries work just as well as the original Pentax at 1/4 to 1/3rd of the price. I do clean the battery contacts from time to time, as these batteries do not have gold plated contacts. I have noticed that (2) of the 3rd Party batteries do give some (60 to 70) shots lesser than the original. Other wise they are just as good. On my K20D I exclusively use 3rd Party batteries for some (2&1/2) years now. Bipin.
