A big Happy New Year to you too, Ann!

Have you every been to The City Bakery?

Maury Rubin owns and runs it, and it's his cookbook on tarts that I'm using.

Here's the link http://www.thecitybakery.com/ Cheers, Christine

HAR! I pass their new place, the "Birdbath" often - I live less than a 5 minute walk from there!. (the original is a bit farther away). But I really really don't go to places like that at all. Between the prices and the health factor - no no no.

Fortunately, I'm seldom tempted by elaborate "sweet" wickedness if I'm going to indulge in and baked wickedess now and then , I make Popovers and slather them in butter and a bit of jam. One batch a year.

The hardest thing for me to resist that comes out of the oven is really
wonderful sourdough bread or the like. A toasted sesame bagel, a baguette with brie.

Food photography is such a bear... I tried to make a recipe calendar
and the things I like to cook look just terrible - like lamb (or other meat ) stew or chicken and dumplings, split pea soup - etc. I trashed
that project, hehe.

This is making me hungry, though. Time for oatmeal:-)
