I think that the single biggest thing Pentax could do to sell

Well, yeah. But that's a little like saying the best way to become
rich is to make lots of money. It's true, but doesn't provide much
helpful information about how to accomplish the task.

It's a first step they need to take if they want anything else to work.
I think the point was that Pentax may well realise that they are in too few major shops, the problem is finding a way to get there. I believe it's a lot more involved these days than just to call the shop owners and ask...

I don't know, I get the feeling that Pentax just doesn't want to deal. I spoke with the manager of the "Camera" department of the local Walmart, he's been there since that particular one opened, and they used to carry Pentax, but unlike Nikon and Canon, Pentax won't budge on their sales requirements let alone come close to Walmart's. The guys at Milford Camera say they'd love to have Pentax, but Pentax won't even talk to them.

Most people aren't going to buy a camera they can't see in a local store.

They may buy it from Amazon or B&H to get a cheaper price, but they're going to look at it at Target or Walmart first. If they don't see Pentax there, they ain't gonna' buy a Pentax.

And if they don't buy Pentax first time around, they ain't gonna' switch to Pentax later.

Don't lose heart! They might want to cut it out, and they'll want to avoid a
lengthily search.
