So the question becomes... why DOESN'T Pentax have a high-end presence in Costco, Walmart, Best Buy, and other nationwide brick and mortar stores? Just about the only retail presence I see is camera shops, which typically are selling at close to MSRP, and which get a small fraction of the traffic the above mentioned stores receive.
i know there's an argument that Pentax must come to the masses; if it happens, it will be good for Pentax, but may be worse for certain types of users (Apple as example), regardless of where the sales take place
personally, i have bought a few accessories at Denver Pro Photo (which is excellent if you're in or near Denver, as long as your needs aren't Pentax-specific), but otherwise i buy everything in this category online since the late 90s (B&H & Amazon primarily, though i buy filters at 2filter.com and like small vendors when they are very good); well, that and most of my lenses were from craigslist etc., and my first two adult SLRs (a Mamiya & a Mniolta) were from the trash
i wonder if by the time Pentax gets back into meatspace stores that the segment have become much less important
