Paul, Glad to hear that Pentax will still replace bodies. About 15
years ago Pentax replaced two of my Lx Bodies at no charge because
they could not get them fixed in time for me. I told them that I
needed them because I was working at a newspaper and did not want to
use the Nikon stuff that the paper supplied to the photographers, as
I had faster glass and more of an assortment. I still have the
letters that came back with the cameras. They came in brand new boxes
also.
But another time they sent me back a Mx body that they could not
repair with a letter stating the fact. They have also repaired my
135 A F1,8 and my 85 A F1.4 and a Super Program.
Paul, Hope it works ok for you..Joe
P.S what is CRIS in case I need them ?
Some of you may recall my bemoaning the fact that my K-5 has been
languishing at CRIS, with the parts necessary to repair it
unavailable. The CRIS folks advised me to talk to Pentax, and I did,
explaining that I shoot for a number of pubs and have a three-day
dawn-to-dusk assignment coming up that I am loathe to attempt with a
single body. I begged for a loaner, and they hemmed and hawed about
how one had to be enrolled in their pro program to get a loaner. I
said I would enroll right that minute, but they countered that it
would take three weeks to approve my application. I worked my way up
through several levels of Pentax employees to no avail. A few days
later, while I was out of the office, someone called and said they
were going to resolve the problem one way or another. I got a name
but had nothing with which to write it down, so I can't say who it
was. The number on my phone from which the call came was a Colorado
area code.. Today, I called CRIS again, and they told me that
Pentax was sending a replacement camera. Half an hour later, a new
K-5 arrived at my front door. Witth 35,000 exposures and a dozen or
so movies on my old one, this is a blessing in more ways than one.
Thank you Pentax.
Paul
