It was important enough to my Dad that he borrowed a tripod and set his
camera up in front of the television and took pictures of the event that
way.
By luck, he had a leaf shutter camera (I still have it, and it still
works), so the pictures turned out with no shutter induced scan lines.
I still have those slides.
