Hello I have used all kinds of lenses with my Z1 and Z1-p and have experienced no inaccuracy. On the contrary - these cameras a very accurate. Unless the lens is faulty/aperture stop down doesn't work right, of course: Some people forget to take the lense off the camera, when not in use, and stop it down to smallest aperture . The spring that operates the aperture will get "tired" if the lens is left with open aperture for a long time (this applies only to cameras that have a spring that CLOSES the aperture (35mm Pentax'es). Some cameras, however, like the 35mm Rolleiflex and Pentax 67, work the opposite way - they have a spring that OPENS thre aperture). Of course some lenses can't avail of the matrix metering facility of the Z1/Z1-p, so measurments may differ slightly (depending on the measured scene) from one lens to the other. This guy must have had a faulty lens or used non TTL flashes. Most tests I have seen show, that Pentax cameras are very accurate compared to other brands. Regards Jens

Sorry if this has been discussed before, but for as long as I've been watching/reading this list I've never encountered any posts on this.... While surfing the web I managed to stumble across this page http://www.planetneil.com/colourzone/pentaxz1.html Basically the author of the page stated that he used to use and love Pentax equipment but due to some problem with inaccurate metering of the Z-1 and KA lenses, he jumped ship to Nikon. To quote the author of the webpage "Exposures using the 3 Pentax KA zooms were consistently out by the same amount regarding the meter readings and actual exposures, on both the Z-1 bodies. As far as I could ascertain, they over-exposed by the following amounts on both Z-1 bodies...." Check out the above webpage for a full explanation.... My question is, has anyone else observed this problem with the Z-1? Has it been fixed with the Z-1p? Thanks, JamesRel. - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
