Sorry, Brian, you are wrong. Pentax DNG files can be opened by any
version of Photoshop that has a raw converter. For fun, I fired up
my 11 year old laptop a while back to test this out. It has
Photoshop 7 on it (pre CS), which was the first version to have a
raw converter available.
The poor thing gagged on the size of the KS files, but eventually
opened them. It took a very long time.
This is the laptop I purchased when I bought the istD because it was
cheaper to buy it than the 4 1gb cards I thought I would need (at
that time a 1gb card was about $400.00).
Well, that's odd because Ken reported that his CS2 wouldn't open his
K-3 files.
To check further, I downloaded a sample K-3 DNG to test it out on my
CS3. It opened fine.
Hmmm....
