Maybe it's CS2 that's the problem? I think that version was a bit squirrely. Anyway, running the original Pentax DNG files through the converter isn't necessarily a bad idea: The early Pentax cameras that offered DNG raw didn't compress the files. Running them through the converter saves disc space (and also smaller files equate to quicker backup times).
