I much prefer the software on CD/DVD, but I understand that it must be more profitable to remove the marketing and disc production costs. Many companies are now going this way, and whilst the current monthly subscription isn't excessive, I always feel there is the potential at some point for that to alter with a captive market. Now, I understand, having pushed most of the customers down the subscription route, it becomes our fault. I read that over 50% of custom is via this subscription method a while back, so they are only supplying what the market wants. Thanks for that. Although I'm not on subscription, I feel locked in because I hate learning new computer software and having (or getting) to grips with LR and PSE means I am loath to start learning something else - although I'm always grateful for list members posting information about alternatives, because the day might come where I switch rather than become assimilated.
