Dan, have you tried to follow the link to buy it?
It is not straight forward. You cannot just "buy" that domain. You can
submit an offer to the owner (according to GoDaddy), and that would cost
$69+commission fee (whatever it is). ... And maybe some more..
And no, it wouldn't be sufficient for Ricoh to follow the link to renew.
They need to have the login/password information for the account(s) used
to register/maintain the domain.
(Otherwise, anybody would've been able to take it over.)
If those are lost, restoring those can take days if not weeks.
... and may not even be successful, depending on how strict and stubborn
GoDaddy support/rules are.
Cheers,
Igor

All Ricoh would have to do is to go the the old URL for the Gallery.
That takes one to the GoDaddy page that asks whether you are the
registered user and provides a link for renewing the registration.
That same page is also offering the domain name for sale.

Either Ricoh doesn't want to renew it, or they cannot find the passwords for
access to GoDaddy registration account, as those who had them might be long
gone. In either case, if Ricoh didn't warn PPG users that they are not going
forward with it (I don't know, my notifications are turned off, and I
haven't been there for ages), it is rather disrespectful of them.
Unfortunately, GoDaddy holds to that domain, by keeping it d renewed for the
next year, so you cannot actually buy it. From the point of view of ICANN,
it has been renewed already today. Otherwise, I would have considered
jumping on it. ... Just for fun of it.
I wouldn't be surprised if someone will do that if GoDaddy releases it some
time soon.
