Some years ago I forgot the password to my domain and also failed to update the contact email. When my then ISP was purchased the email had changed, with no forwarding. I was unable to take any action with regards to my domain. While it was inconvenient to get the account email changed - required having to send a notarized form to the registrar - it was not too difficult. It did take a few weeks for the registrar to move things along though. In my case I had plenty of time till the domain expired so it did not matter.

I called and talked with someone in Marketing who thanked me for the info.
Khoi Tran was also formerly associated with this domain:
ricohimagingrewards.com but I see that that has been updated to a new
ricoh-usa.com email address.
So I'm going to send the info to that administrator's email address
also. I'm sure they will take corrective action, but it is difficult
when the only two contacts that are associated with the domain are no
longer with your company. However, I'm sure it has happened before and
GoDaddy can get it figured out with them.

Even after the domain expires, there is a period of time that the
original owner can renew the domain, so it is not available to be
picked up by just anybody until that time frame expires. The two email
addresses associated with the domain record are:
[email protected] and [email protected].

It is a common oversight to forget to update the email addresses
associated when a company buys and changes the root domain. It is
quite possible that "prac.pentax.com" no longer exists. Hopefully the
email administrator for ricohimaging.com was smart enough to forward
emails to those address to someone who still works for the company.
Carolyn is no longer with Ricoh, according to her LinkedIn page:
https://www.linkedin.com/pub/carolyn-hassell/7/470/7a8
Neither is Khoi Tran:

Someone should post the info on Ricoh's Facebook page or this could
easily slip between the cracks.

Dan, have you tried to follow the link to buy it?
It is not straight forward. You cannot just "buy" that domain. You can
submit an offer to the owner (according to GoDaddy), and that would cost
$69+commission fee (whatever it is). ... And maybe some more..

And no, it wouldn't be sufficient for Ricoh to follow the link to renew.
They need to have the login/password information for the account(s) used to
register/maintain the domain.
(Otherwise, anybody would've been able to take it over.)
If those are lost, restoring those can take days if not weeks.
... and may not even be successful, depending on how strict and stubborn
GoDaddy support/rules are.

Igor

All Ricoh would have to do is to go the the old URL for the Gallery.
That takes one to the GoDaddy page that asks whether you are the
registered user and provides a link for renewing the registration.

That same page is also offering the domain name for sale.

Either Ricoh doesn't want to renew it, or they cannot find the passwords
for
access to GoDaddy registration account, as those who had them might be
long
gone. In either case, if Ricoh didn't warn PPG users that they are not
going
forward with it (I don't know, my notifications are turned off, and I
haven't been there for ages), it is rather disrespectful of them.

Unfortunately, GoDaddy holds to that domain, by keeping it d renewed for
the
next year, so you cannot actually buy it. From the point of view of ICANN,
it has been renewed already today. Otherwise, I would have considered
jumping on it. ... Just for fun of it.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone will do that if GoDaddy releases it
some
time soon.
