The buffer issue is partly why I bought a D750 instead of a K1, there's plenty to love about the K1 but AF and buffer depth aren't on the list.
The D750 has a buffer depth count-back that lest you know as you're shooting how many shots you have left in the buffer, not that it's really a problem as it clears so fast. But the point is the Nikon recognises the buffer clearing to be an important aspect of camera performance so much so that they built an indicator so you always know here you are rather than being literally left in the dark. The D750 isn't as capable of achieving AF lock in really low light but it's so good in other ways that I'll forgive it.
