We are selling record amounts of paint. Apparently that has become an essential product as people who are supposed to be working from home need something to do.
We don't have a lock-down but a ban on groups of more than two people out on the streets. Our DIY stores are also still open in order to give people living in the same household something to do and keep them from going at each others' throats. Various associations are already warning that domestic violence will become a bigger problem than ever. The city of Cologne's two recycling yards are run over by people clearing out their basements and safe distances can no longer be maintained there. They're now threatening to close them. The café opposite is not allowed to serve people at its tables but may sell its pastries and coffee for take-away. There's a cluster of people standing in front eating, drinking and smoking although take-away food and drinks must not be consumed within 40 metres of the point-of-sale. A hate being a snitch but if this goes on I'll give the authorities a call. I haven't been outside for almost two weeks and I have no use for people contributing to an eventual overload of our health systems. Ralf -- Ralf R.
