Hi Adelheid, I have a Carbon tripod which I use for most of my outside shooting. I find the shoulder straps are OK particularly if you are in a rush however the tripod does sometimes tend to swing about and can end up catching on things as you walk. However normally I strap it to the back of my Trekker or S&F Rover Light, I use a ball head to keep the weight and profile down. If the head sticks up too high it can be a pain negotiating thick bush and low overhead branches. I rarely carry it in my hand, I'd rather have them free or have a camera in hand.
