Yup, that's how Canons and Nikons work these days.  You have to move up to
an F100 before you find a Nikon body able to set aperture on the lens.

Agreed.  Personally, I like the idea of having the option of setting
aperture the traditional way (able to use my old MF lenses), or the modern
way (via the body, quicker in some situations).  If Pentax sticks with
just the traditional way, they run the risk of alienating even more users
than before.  Fine for us, but bad for Pentax.
