Exactly.  And that's why Nikon is going that way.  It is easy for Pentax to
drop the aperture ring, but they are different from N/C.  They keep the
features consumers want.  I hope they won't drop it.  But who knows.  Even
Pentax may have to go for cheaper manufacturing of lenses.

Also, for any critical aperture control, the aperture ring is the only way.
AV wheel is always the approximation.  Full of measurment data to prove it.
Even Pentax manufacturing people say so, although in low voice.  Canon loves
the approximation.  If you feel their focusing is faster, but Z-1p hunts to
the last bit of focus adjustment, that's because Canon's focus algorithm
stops at certain range of approximation way before any Pentax focusing
system stops dead on.
