As far as time keeping goes, isn't this just what Rails was invented for? I wrote a barebones time-keeping app in about an afternoon that lets me keep track of clients, jobs, and tasks, as well as generate invoices, in CSV format, no fancy formatting.
I don't use it to keep track of payments or anything because there are a million accounting apps that are way better.
