Putting information like that in a datasheet is fine. But I would suggest you put that information (pin information, package information) in a separate file using some kind of industry standard (EIA must have something for this). After all, you can get spice models, and/or IBIS models for the parts; why not pin and package information. Maybe some kind of standardization of XML.
Then, each PCB CAD vendor could write a converter to eat the file and create the schematic part automagically. I'm a bit more skeptical about creating/specifying footprints automatically.
