looking at the link provided there a re several solutions that seem to work
for different people, unfortunately i dont use F-Spot either, so i cant
comment, but i'll just paste in the last few posts on that link that show
all the different resolutions...

Hi. Thanks all for replying. I managed to resolve the issue by deleting the
F-Spot file in the hidden program directory in my home folder. Finally, it's
working flawlessly--and now I'm torn between F-Spot and Google Picasa. Hope
others having an issue have resolved theirs.

this shouldn't be necessary. The developers should take a look why the
config file is causing trouble.

i got the same error when the permissions of ~/.gnome2/f-spot where wrong.
did you check the permissions before you deletet the database?

resolved by installing sqlite here; very annoying
