I solved my F-Spot problem by carrying out

rm -rf ~/.gnome2/f-spot

Magic!

I am not sure why that helped?!? Can anyone help me to understand?

You were wondering about F-SPot -v- Picasa. My problem with F-Spot - (Yes I know you can un-tick the box but it is easy to forget) is that it ** copies ** photos to the photos folder - not necessarily what I want!

BUT... if you do not, when you apply changes via Edit Photo, I tried it with the "Convert to Black and white" there is no going back, no undo, no cancel, nothing! - not that I can find anyway, so you are stuck with the changes you make. Ooops!

HANG ON! It actually creates a filename(modified).jpg It seems to do this without telling me! DOH! This is more of a window's trick me-thinks! Doing things without my knowledge or consent!

    Glad to hear it!

    Usual time/place/etc (7:30pm, my workshop).

There is a possibility I might not be there but Ben has kindly
    agreed to
be key guardian if necessary (assuming I also can't get anyone else from
MSL to be there). Hopefully I'll be back from site anyway, though.
