HOLY MOLY! That is a story right there. I have seen two of them at Charlie Martin's place in Pennsylvania (some years ago). He also had a Victor Schoolhouse Victrola (the one with the wheels) and an Opera at various times. He got some good stuff in there. John

The former owner is a collector as well. For those on the list who don't know me, I am the proud owner of seven Vernis Martin Victrolas. Loran Hughes will soon post a picture of six of them on my website www.mrvictor.com The seventh one is currently under restoration. And Loran, may I use the picture of the torn Victrola decal? John RObles Bob Johnson wrote: Hello All: I am the owner of the Upside Down Decal Vernis Martin. Thanks Jerry for your kind words on our collection. Regarding the upside down decal, noted Victor / Victrola historian and author Robert Baumbach had also speculated to me that it never made it out of the factory but was also never made right and sat in the factory for years. Most likely in the anticipation of coming of the Orthophonic era and November 1925 "Victor Day" the factory was ordered to sell remaining inventory at "outta here" prices. Bob Baumbach did indicate to me a year or two ago that he is aware of one or two other Victrolas with upside down or "not perfectly centered" decals. They are indeed rare items and I am thrilled to have it. Thanks all.
