At this point, based on everyone's comments so far, it seems
we're left with two reasonable options:
1. Implement Sascha's abstracted scanner interface,
2. Ask Sascha to maintain his scanner as a separate
(optional) patch that replaces the existing flex
scanner.
Both of these options assume that each party's stance on the
license situation will remain incompatible with the other's for
the time being.
