Jenny,

Some doctors also take time to 'warm up to'. One of my doctors and I just never got there though, and after the third visit, I decided to not go back, and he is one of the top in his field (not endocrinolgy though).

What you can do, is read up and learn about your condition, and go into your appointments prepared. If he is that brilliant, he should be very professional and his advice and mannerisms will be very dogmatic and very 'by the book'. You should be able to take his recommendations and treatment plan and look them up and check him. Sometimes it is better to have someone who is knowledgeable and committed to doing what needs to be done, rather than someone who doesn't know what to do. There are alot of doctors who don't know how to treat pituitary disease. So, you could give him a chance at least. In the beginning, he may be very "by the book", but may become more flexible as he begins to know you, and you him.

But... noone said you can't get a second opinion. After all, it is your life. We all would rather have a brilliant doctor and a wonderful people person take charge of our care.

Minnie
