Hello Culby:

I can share my experience.  I had a macroadenoma (prolactinoma).   I take parlodel/bromocriptine not dostinex.   Some people prefer Dostinex as you don't have to have it everyday, however there is also the plus side for bromocriptine in that it has been around for 30 years with lots of information and testing behind it.

I never had a period without taking progesterone even though I was on 3-2.5mg of bromo a day.  When I do take the progesterone, my period is not painful at all - the most was just light cramping.

I have not always been the most faithful pill taker and I also went through a move.  It's tough to find a new doc nowadays..so I can relate to that pain-in-the-neck job.  Not only do you have to find a new GP, but you have to find and endocrinologist to boot

My tumor has disappeared.  I don't know at what point in my 20 years of taking the pill it disappeared,  all I know is that my recent MRI and my visit to the neurosurgeon has reported "NO TUMOR"    So I guess to answer your one question - it is possible for it to go away after a long time of pill taking.

My tumor shrunk 1/3 of it's size in my first month on meds so it did better than 20% in a year.

Hope this answers some of your questions.

Take care
