Culby,

I have the awful pain with my periods, I take Aleve and use thermacare heat wraps. I also usually sleep because I am so weak. I have never sought any additional pain killers. I have been diagnosed with PCOs and large ovarian cysts which constantly burst (sometimes I faint from the pain,) but I have not been given anything to help. I merely live with it the best I can. I am always completely out-of-commission several days a month. I used to have my horrendously painful periods 2-3 times a month, now I am blessed with only 1-2 times a month.

About Aleve...I took Aleve every day for three years for my migraines per my first neurologist...my body got used to the meds and they stopped helping. Recently, I realized my body got used to my daily dose of indomethacin, so it stopped helping my migraines. I had to up the dosage, which isn't very safe, long term. If you take a medication frequently, your body will get used to it and it will no longer be effective in stopping the pain.

I don't really have any suggestions other than the thermacare heat wraps, they work wonders. Midol has never helped me. I only take Aleve during my periods, so it usually helps dull the pain.

I hope you're able to find relief, soon. Have you ever had a pelvic ultrasound done to check your ovaries?

Take care.

Meri
