Hi Melissa!
Welcome to the group .

I am really glad that your tumor was found even if by accident. Many patients who have hyperprolactinemia go to the doctor initially because of disrupted sexual functions, mood swings, irratibility, anxiety, and some even with visual changes. A high prolactin level such as yours can indicate a large tumor.

Your doctor will try to shrink the tumor with drugs first. With some patients, the medication works very well, and the tumors do respond to dopamine agnoist therapy. If you don't respond with the Parlodel, your doctor can also try Dostinex (a medication you would take 2x per week) or even a combination treatment approach.

That is something that your doctor has only seen 2 cases in over 13 years. I am so very, very glad that you are being treated.

You will also probably have regular MRI's to see how the tumor is responding to medication. It might be a good idea to set up an appt with a neuroopthamologist to have your visual field vision tested, to make sure the tumor isn't pressing on your optic nerves.

If you are having headaches, do try to see a neurologist to get you some symptomatic control for those too!

Keep us posted, and we will be hoping that the medication shrinks your tumor!

Minnie
