I'm new here, just found this board today. A little history - in 2000 (4 months after having a baby) I started getting severe headaches. Went through a diagnosis of migraines, then temporal arteritis and had negative temporal artery biopsy, then dx of central nervous system vasculitis, then dx of Cluster headaches with migraines. Many CT's and MRI's done. Initial findings were intrasellar cisternal herniation and labeled as incidental. Last year, spring of 2004, I had major GI problems that resulted in total paralytic ileus that almost cost me my life. Following that I had a 'spell' of double vision with memory issues. Opthamology, neurology and GI docs all found nothing. The end of march this year, I started to experience visual disturbances where I was getting a huge blind spot and losing left peripheral vision in both eyes. CT scan revealed a pituitary fossa cyst. My GP ordered an MRI, and the radiologist showed me on the MRI where the cyst (he called it a tumor) was. It's to the right of the pituitary stalk. My GP is completely ignoring the presence of this. We are a military family and I have no continuity of care, so he hasn't read all the previous reports. This is a new development on my films, and I will see my neuro on Wed. the 27th of April. There are no real pituitary specialists where I live. I'm very concerned at the way my GP is ignoring this, and am worried that the neuro will also ignore it. From everything I've read over the last 4 weeks, this is not something that can be left alone, especially with visual disturbances. I would love some feedback from people who have gone through this to find out if this is something I really need to insist on having reviewed by a specialist. Can something like this be ignored? The MRI was only a regular brain scan, no contrast and no pit. study. Please help, any and all information is needed. I have gone through a nightmare in the last 5 years trying to find the answer to severe headaches that respond to nothing, not to mention all the other symptoms that the docs don't seem to think are related, but everything I have read says they are. Thank you so much Kadiya |
