Can you do an end run around the neurologist and have your primary care physician refer you? How about a referral to an army endocrinologist then a referral from there? My local endo was not pleased that I was interested in referral to a pituitary center. After some investigation about which was the best one for me to go to I called his office staff and requested that the info be sent to the pituitary center - which they did. Well, the office staff must not have told the endo because at my next visit, right after he identified the tumor on the MRI, I mentioned that I had scheduled an appointment at the pituitary center, He was furious - grabbed the MRI off the light box and stuffed them back in the envelope. Stomped out of the room stating that "Didn't I think that this should have been discussed with him" - never to be seen again. By the way my tumor was also identified as a cyst by the radiologist but turned out to be an adenoma. |
