I have acromegaly with transphenoidal surgery last Decemnber. My IGF-1 remained high so I am now on Sandostatin LAR. I saw my enodcrinologist yesterday after 3 months on the Sando statin and my IGF-1 is 240 (normal for my age). YEA!!!! But I have been running slightly elevated Calcium level and there has been some concern that I have MENS 1. The endocrinologist stated that the Ca level is now back to normal and the elevation may have been due to the elevated growth hormone levels. I was just reviewing my lab results and noted the PTH (parathyroid hormone level ) is 157 normal being 12 to 72 per the lab slip. What the......? To me this looks I am still having problems with my parathyroid. Since this could mean additional surgery I am concerned. Am I over reacting or do my lab tests indicate a problem? Obviously, I will contact the endo on Monday but just wanted to know your thoughts?
