Thanks for your info, Meri. I have a lot of GI issues, which may be totally unrelated. I have GI stasis (poor motility), I feel extremely full and nauseous most of the time, esp. after eating, and I find it very difficult to eat. I also have had on and off episodes of diarrhea, vomiting and upper abdominal pain (occasionally very severe) for the last few years. Until now I'd been atrributing that stuff to recurrent viral infections. Currently I have diarrhea most of the time. I have read that problems like these can be related to hypercalcemia, or also to pancreatic problems. I did have calcium tested once a few months ago, and it was right in the middle of the normal range, 9.3, I think. However as with all my tests I wonder about whether my eating habits (that is... eating barely anything, or literally nothing for long periods of time) have affected the results. Starvation/fasting/malnutrition, whatever you want to call it, would have to screw up calcium levels and a lot of other things too. Calcium is usually low with Cushing's? I didn't know that. My endo suspects Cushing's, I think because I had a high ACTH. have amenorrhea, and have gained a lot of weight recently despite the near-starvation situation going on. I also have developed the characteristic round face, but other than that I really don't have the typical Cushing's symptoms. At this point, it's been so long since I have eaten normally, I wonder what symtpoms ar caused by not eating (weakness, muscle aches etc) and what's caused by the underlying condition(s). I can't imagine being this sick for 8 yrs with no answers. You must have incredible patience and fortitude. |
