Hello Tab. I had a Macroadenoma too. It was over 3 cm. I
had bad headaches from May of 2002 up until my surgery in March 2003. It
took awhile to diagnose, as my doctors thought I was having migranes. An MRI of
course proved otherwise. I found out about the tumor in February, and
scheduled the surgery for the end of March. If surgery is recommended to
you by more than one EXPERIENCED pituitary surgeon, then that is probably what
you should choose to do.
My advice to you, as I see you've received it from others on this board, is
to get yourself to the most experienced surgeon you can find. In fact, see
two or three of them, and get opinions. Experience is so important.
I had three opinions, and chose Dr. Chandler at University of Michigan hosptial
in Ann Arbor. Very skilled, and luckily for me, no complications, other
than the fact that it was a large tumor, and my hormone levels are quite low, so
I take meds now.
What other symptoms are you having? Where do you live? You are
wise to consult with people on this board. I would not be in the good
shape I am in without these wonderful people.
Sincerely,
Marcia
