Not to put to fine a point on it, but actually this needs further explanation. The entire packaging system is still a work in progress. Performance today is no indication of how performance will be if/when we finally ship an enterprise release. The traditional model for ON development has teams deliver finished, or phased products to the gate. We're not in ON yet, and our project is still under active development. Compare both features and performance of 2008.05 to our upcoming 2010.03 release to get a sense of what we've been up to. If you'd like to contribute and have a specific idea for making performance better, that's great. We're always happy for competent help. As it stands, we have a bunch of ideas for improving performance and will continue to work on those until we finish pkg(5). -j _______________________________________________ pkg-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/pkg-discuss
