Can we please let this thread die, or at least hibernate for a while?

Ondrej, the points that you have raised are reasonable in the long run
but this is not the ideal time in the project life cycle to be pushing
them.  How about when you're out in MPK in the near future, I introduce
you to several members of the pkg team?  Then you can listen to them
explain the work that they're doing, and how performance work is planned,
but for later in the dev cycle.  And they can listen to you explain the
gate work that you do and how the slow performance impacts that.  We're
all on the same team, and are (or should be) working towards the same
goal, which is a better experience for our customers.
