Thanks for your investigation of the Ada/MinGW case. I know your time is quite limited right now, but when you get a chance could you also do a similar investigation for Cygwin? If Cygwin accepts the *.obj form of output files for Ada, then that reinforces your belief the MinGW problem with the .obj extension is a bug, and I would be tempted write-off Ada on MinGW until they correct the bug. OTOH, if Cygwin also cannot accept the *.obj form of output files, then it might be a (stupid) Ada policy to always enforce *.o extensions for compiled objects regardless of platform, and we should find a workaround such as writing a bash script to compile Ada programmes.
