I use plucker and isilo for offline browsing - alternating between the two
lately, but isilo only for book reading so far.

I just recently tried to move to plucker instead of isilo for book reading
but went back to isilo for pretty much the reasons you mentioned:
        - it was definitely faster to load easier to get back to where I was
reading
        - page turning was considerably faster
        - that bottom line repeated on the top is driving me nuts for book
reading (though it never bothers me in news reading for some reason)

In fairness the book I am reading is pretty big (> 1 MB, all text - no
images) and I'm using a beta release of Plucker 1.7.1.

I read a lot of ebooks. Even when I have the physical book I find it more
convenient to read on the palm os I try to get the ebook too. Sometimes I
even scan them for my own use. I look forward to the day when plucker can be
my exclusive book reader, it should be soon.
(Or will I switch to this for book reading
