Dear PLUG Community,

First and foremost, the wiki was setup in order to have an open
nomination for the next batch of board members and/or officers. This
might not be the best solution but I personally assure everyone that at
least we are trying to extend the nomination to people who can't attend
the upcoming General Assembly.

I would like to request to all the people who can read this message that
please give a little respect to what we tried to provide for the
community. If you have any complaints or have personal anger to any of
us here, confront us personally. Please do not post any foul messages.
And one more thing, PLUG is NOT QSR or vice versa. It so happen that
our company voluntered/offered majority of the resources that we are all
enjoying right now and I hope most of you noticed it. Our company
doesn't expect any recognition or whatever in return but please, just
give our company a little respect.

Just to inform you, our company (through Ian Sison and Jijo Sevilla) is
the one providing the following services to the community:

- linux.org.ph
- new mailing lists
- mailing list archives
- old and new website
- IRC
- office space to conduct meetings

I am personally affected to the message posted yesterday at 17:10:38
<http://linux.org.ph/ga2005/ga2005_wiki#msg20050922171038
[EMAIL PROTECTED]> as being the incumbent president of this
organization and is also connected with QSR. Whoever posted this
message, please e-mail me personally what you don't like about QSR
and/or what we did to the community.

I also would like to answer the comment posted yesterday at 18:48:44
<http://linux.org.ph/ga2005/ga2005_wiki#msg20050922184844
[EMAIL PROTECTED]>. We are trying to make PLUG as a REAL organization
composed of bodies, a legal entity with by-laws that hopefully people
will respect to it. One of the main reasons why I personally pushed to
make PLUG as an organization and not just a mailing list was there are
people who are using the name of PLUG and/or represents PLUG for their
own business dealings or whatever reasons they may have. But the
problem here is, the people who uses the name of PLUG didn't even give
feedbacks or inform the community (if we can't call this yet an
organization) that they represented PLUG for their dealings. In short,
the name of PLUG was exploited. Are you aware of this?

This may sound authoritative or as what the person who posted the
comment, "an exclusive fraternity" but IMHO, this is for the benefit of
PLUG and the community. I don't believe that the current PLUG (if
that's what you believe in) is not an open community anymore. Can you
define what is an open community?

When the current board was elected (or maybe nominated?), there were
very few who attended the GA. Where were you?

For your information, I am not just setting here and enjoying the
prestige of being the president of PLUG but instead, I sacrificed a lot
for this organization. I allocated a lot of time for this organization
trying to provide projects for the community. I even sacrificed my time
for my family, my business and my other organization, the Junior Chamber
(Jaycees) just for this organization. I don't even have time to relax.

Yes, I represent the position of the president but it doesn't mean I am
the boss. I acted (if anyone noticed it) like a slave for this
organization. This may be funny to you but that's the reality. The
latest scenario that I can share to you was the LinuxWorld Philippines
2005 Conference and Expo.

I am the president. Yes. And I can't just leave the booth of PLUG
without someone who can stay there and represents PLUG. I was there
from the time we did our ingress (Tuesday night) until our egress
(Friday night). I was there at the booth burning CDs for people who
wants to get a copy of their favorite distribution(s) for the entire
conference. Where were you? I thank the people who helped me and I
don't need to mention their names. They know who they are.

Being the president, I was supposed to represent PLUG especially during
the panel discussions conducted at the track 4 of the conference. But
where was I? I was at the booth (again) burning CDs and/or stayed there
just to have someone in the booth.

You may asked, if I was a good leader, I should delegate the work to my
subordinates. Again, I thank the few people who REALLY helped me during
the said conference. But where were you?

Everybody was busy. Everybody has work. Everybody were engaged. If
that's the case, don't you think that I was also supposed to be with my
clients during those days that I sacrificed my time for the conference
and PLUG, and earn for a living? Where were you? Well, maybe you're
busy. Can't you just SSH to the venue where I needed you? Oh, maybe
you have a firewall that prohibits you to go out from wherever you were
during the conference.

Now, I challenge you. I challenge anyone who can sacrifice theirselves
just for PLUG and bring back (if that's what you're looking for) the
open community. You don't need to wait for someone who will nominate
you. If you are very interested and care about PLUG, stand up and
nominate yourself and express your interest to be the next president of
PLUG or any position you want. And make sure that after your term, you
will be proud of yourself that you were able to accomplished projects
when you were still carrying whatever position it may be.

I would like to remind you, that being a leader(slave) of this
organization, you should spend your own money and time if you really
concerned with PLUG and with your position. Don't expect that you will
get something or an honorarium from being an officer of this
organization.

Good luck.
