Hey, Marvin. Don't fret. That's part of being a leader (slave is more
like it, as you so eloquently described) -- expect to get dissed. But
doesn't mean the anonymous comments were valid, or were even worth the
bandwidth.

I'm not that much active -- both in the list and especially in the
board. Heck, I haven't even attended a *single* PLUG activity. But I
feel I belong because we're united by a common thread that runs
through the org and the mailing list (now I can't seem to see the
delineation, because the people here {Paolo, Marvin, other names, et.
al.} have done such a good job that the list *is* now an org and has
blurred the bounds): advocacy of Linux and open source.

There's a bit of clique ("elitism", if you may), sure, but that comes
with handling a still specialized field. Gawd, but there's no secret
handshake or code words (except GPG encryption, I guess)! And, geez, a
"fraternity"? There's nothing wrong with the word, really -- it just
got bad publicity. "Fraternity" means brotherhood. What the frig is
wrong with that anyhow? :) If we can call our advocacy a
(brother|sister)hood, then so be it. WE like what we do, and that's
what keeps us going. And having an org (a formal cohesive one at that)
*and community* to back it up makes it even more exciting and cool.

And, Marvin, I've seen how you've "slaved" during the conference. It
was a valiant job, and you have my admiration. Well, not the kind that
Erin insinuates on the anonymous poster anyway. lol :) But you have my
respect, as well. Keep it up, man.

Erin, sometimes I wonder if you're just too bored. Hehe. ;)

Keep cool, guys!
